WHO CREATED BASKETBALL?

The basketball was born in the United States in 1891, invented by James Naismith, physical education teacher for the YMCA Training School in Springfield (Massachusetts) who was commissioned to invent a sport that is played on a track covering, as the winters in the area hindered any activity outside. However, some historians attribute the origin of the Mayan tribe that practiced basketball as a sport similar, tlachtli. During the twentieth century basketball was spread worldwide through the creation of the International Federation of Basketball in 1932, and Olympic sport since the 1936 Summer Olympics, held in Berlin. It was during the First World War, with the arrival of American soldiers when they practiced the sport of basketball began to become popular in Europe.
